Definition Of Encryption:

Scrambling sensitive information so that it becomes unreadable to everyone except the intended recipient.
Encryption is performed by hardware/software devices which use a series of mathematical operations (encryption algorithm) to generate encrypted data called cypher text. The recipient, who must have an 'electronic key' to decrypt the data, uses a similar device to convert cypher text back to its original (readable) form called clear text.
