Definition Of Data Transfer Rate (dtr):

Speed at which data can be moved between two devices, such as from a disk drive to a computer's main memory.
Modern DVD drives can transfer data at rate of 1.2 gigabytes per second (GB/sec). Between modems, DTR is measured in bits per second (bps), and between a computer and a printer in characters per second (cps). See also data access time.
